Dontnod - probably best known for the Life is Strange series (which has two Linux-native games out of the 3!) made this awesome platformer back in 2013. And of course it runs great on Proton and Ubuntu. Remember Me is a lot of fun and gorgeous, despite its age.

To get working audio in Mass Effect 1, running on Proton with Linux: Open local files, then from there edit BioGame/Config/DefaultEngine.ini. Find the ISACTAudio section and add: DeviceName=Generic Software UseEffectsProcessing=False Then install xact: WINEPREFIX=/path/to/your/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/17460/pfx winetricks xact Then get a good Steam Controller config and save the galaxy.
Runs well, with full sound and official Steam Controller support.

I was able to get sound working in The Evil Within, running via Steam Play, by installing xact the same way I did for Skyrim. WINEPREFIX=SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/268050/pfx winetricks xact Seems like installing this into the Proton WINE prefix for affected games is a pretty good way to get the sound working. Skyrim SE runs pretty nicely on Proton. No voices or music? Try running winetricks to install the xact package: WINEPREFIX=/path/to/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/489830/pfx winetricks xact
While I still wish more games were native, I have to say that the Proton runtime is a good idea. Thinking of it as a similar thing to OpenJDK or .NET rather than an emulation layer makes the WINE a bit less dry. ;) Runs perfectly (and with a kernel build running in the background...) […]
